STRUCTURED PROCRASTINATION? IS THERE SUCH A THING?
I'm coming out of the closet as a procrastinator. To people who know me well, this isn't revelatory. Borrowing the beautifully appropriate words of Paul Simon, let me say, "I'm the first to admit it... and the last one to know." However, I've come to manage my curious affliction (and the familiar stress it elicits) in similar ways as Stanford Philosophy Professor John Perry proposes in his wonderful short essay on "Structured Procrastination"*. If you're similarly struggling with procrastination or lack of motivation, as many clients and I do, I highly recommend trying a restructuring of one's "task lists" per Perry's suggestions.
